I was thrilled to get this one for a few reasons. First, I had wanted a group 2 Domitian denarius for about 10 years. These only show up for sale rarely. This is a PONT denarius which are quite rare. What makes this one exceptionally rare is the reverse legend. Notice that PP comes before the rest of the legend. This is only true for the group 2 denarii. All group 2 denarii are very rare or exceptionally rare.

Another interesting fact is that this coin comes from the Curtis Clay collection. I am very happy to add a coin from this amazing collection. If you see a Domitian denarius with this reverse legend, grab it while you can.
