This coin will win no beauty contests. It is a rare Diobol of Domitian struck in Alexandria. This coin does have a couple of things going for it. First of all it is Ex: Dattari. It was part of the famous Dattari collection of Alexandrian coins. In fact, it is the plate coin from the Dattari-Savio volume which documents the Dattari collection. It is also one of only 3 examples on RPC online. This coin is a cited example on RPC online.
I am trying to build a 4th 12 caesars collection with provincial coins. I am hoping to be able to do this with as many Alexandrian coins as possible. I have several other ex: Dattari coins in my collection, and I am always looking for more.
Though this is an admittedly rough example of this coin, that chances of finding another one are very slim. I therefore gladly accept this one into my collection.
